Poets: do you feel like your writing is too cheesy or melodramatic? How do you deal with that feeling?

Alright here's the deal; I'm writing a poem for my Psychology class, and I love it, but I'm sitting here going, "Crap, this sounds dramatic. Like beyond Shakespearean dramatic." Okay maybe not that dramatic, but still, I don't want someone to read my poem and think "Ew, sad bitch much?" Is it normal to feel like this about your poetry? I'm pretty new to it. Does anyone have any tips?
