Third ablation done
Hi!
I did my third ablation yesterday, my first ablation ever was in February this year, so three ablations in one year so far.
This ablation lasted around 4 - 5 hours (which is around the same as the other two) and is so far successful. But the other ablations has also been successful at first, with the pathway returning within a few weeks. Fingers crossed that this ablation will last!
Since I got preexcited afib two times during my last ablation 1,5 months ago and needed to be put to sleep for cardioversion two times, I was really afraid for this ablation. Told my doctors this and was heavy sedated right before and during the whole ablation, which was a really nice experience. For my first two ablations I was fully awake and not sedated.
I was somewhere between asleep and awake during it, I could always answer questions and speak with the doctors and nurses, and feel the heart skipping and jumping during the EP-study. But other than that I just lay there half asleep and felt relaxed and nice in my body. It was actually a nice experience. The time also flew by since I was so sedated.
No afib at all during this ablation, but I got svt at one point at 210 bpm. I was instructed by the doctor who ablated to do the valsalva maneuver at the table and it solved the svt right away.
I'm glad I did a third ablation, because the pathway was still risky according to my doctor, a bit slower after the two other ablations, but still able to conduct dangerously fast. I really hope this is my last ablation, but if I need a fourth one I would do it again.
