Just had a realization (possible spoiler)

Cto Yu and Officer keen could have survived. A pda on the floating island states that Cto Yu and Officer Keen made it, but noone else. The last thing we hear is that they're lost at sea. It doesn't say they died. Maybe they drifted far enough to reach the ice biom? Just a theory.
