Small things I notice in the morning
3 weeks in! Yesterday I realized something: I’m not waking up with crusty eyes, a parched mouth, chapped lips, heartburn, and new zits. And then, when I get up, I’m not hit with nausea and dizziness. I don’t hack for a while and then spend 20 mins on the toilet cursing myself. I can remember everything from the night before. When I get to the sink, my gums don’t bleed when I brush my teeth and floss, and I don’t gag. I have the energy to put effort into my appearance and actually sometimes like what I see in my reflection. And, the biggest change, I’m HUNGRY for a HEALTHY breakfast and I don’t need 4 strong cups of coffee and an energy drink to get going. Then I leave for work and remember to bring everything I need, and sometimes I even feel good about the day ahead (my job can be really stressful at times). And not once does it cross my mind to call in sick and sleep the whole morning away to escape the guilt. I feel alive into my core for the first time in many years.
