Why hasn't the Enterprise served in a war?
So I finished Star Trek Lower Decks, Star Trek Picard and am now on season three of Star Trek Discovery. From season two of Star Trek Discovery we all learned from Captain Christopher Pike that the USS Enterprise was essentially kept out of the war because it was too far away to serve in it ( I think that's what was said ) in any case I also remember that during the war with the Dominion the USS Enterprise-E didn't serve in that war either and were tasked with diplomatic missions. So it makes a person wonder why have the writers over time not allowed the Enterprise and it's crew to serve in combat on the front lines during a war? I mean I just have to wonder why is it that every other ship is sent into direct combat with the enemy but they just come up with reasons why the Enterprise doesn't? Is there something so special or so disturbing seeing the Enterprise serve in a war? I'm very curious to hear everyone's opinion on the subject!
