First Painting of 2025
Trying to create more art in 2025 and not let myself just veg out on video games and doom scroll. Completed January 13, 2025.
Spectacled Eiders will always have a special place in my heart because I was privileged to get to assist in a capture and release program for these endangered birds. Getting to see them in person was indescribable. Pictures really don’t do them justice or capture the beautiful green color the males have on their heads. They spend the majority of the year out on sea ice in the Bering Sea, only coming ashore in Alaska and Russia to nest and raise their young in the spring when the snow and ice begins to melt on the tundra. I encourage you to check out allaboutbirds.gov to learn more about these wonderful ducks.
