Cameron Green 2026 Possible Teams

We don't need to talk about his batting, but Green also bowled 35.1 overs for RCB in 13 matches and 38 for MI in 16 matches taking 10 and 6 wickets respectively. He is a proper option as the 5th/6th bowler.

Someone will buy Cameron Green next year, he is likely to be the top buy as well. Who will be able to make funds to try to buy him, let's see.

Chennai Super Kings:

Gaikwad, Jadeja, Dube aren't gonna leave. Even if Dhoni retires, its only 4cr. They definitely have a need for a better #5 with Vijay Shankar and Deepak Hooda as the current options. Green would be the ideal replacement for Sam Curran as Pathirana is already their prime death bowler (if he finds form again) and Green gives a different profile of bowling. Making funds for him is the hard part, Noor is likely to succeed, Pathirana is also likely to get his form back and given their ages, CSK are unlikely to let them go even if they perform below par. The only way would be if Ashwin (and maybe Dhoni) retires which frees up 9.75 (+4) Crores, if they go into the auction with the plan of going for Green they might also need to release Ravindra, Curran, or others to free up funds. (5/10)

Delhi Capitals:

Very unlikely they try to go for him. Why? because they did good business. Stubbs is still young and unlikely to fail, Harry Brook was taken for cheap so replacing him with Green wouldn't be possible. Only way would be if Jake Fraser-McGurk fails, even then they would need to let many other players go. (2/10)

Gujarat Titans:

Extremely unlikely. The Titans have 7 players getting more than 8 Crores, rest all are on 4Cr or less. Out of the 7 rich guys, Prasidh Krishna (9.5cr) is the likeliest to leave, if he gets injured again and Gujarat give up on him. Rest are all long term options for them they wouldn't want to let go of. Budgeting Green will take a major toll on their team which they won't risk. (1/10)

Kolkata Knight Riders:

The wicketkeepers are overseas, they take one spot, Narine and Russell take one each, Green in place of Nortje would be a good change in KKR's eyes but that doesn't amount to enough funds to finance Green. Releasing Venky with the aim of getting him back would be too risky and not enough to get both Green and Venky back. They also know that they will have to replace Russell sooner or later, they could look at this situation and find the strength to release him and get his heir. With the lack of other releaseable players to finance Green, it would stay an unlikely deal. (7/10)

Lucknow Super Giants:

Absolutely not possible. UNLESS they let Pooran (21cr) go, he did get a bit extra as he's a middle order left-handed batter who also keeps, but they went on to get Pant and Miller so those aspects of his profile aren't worth much to LSG now but still it is very unlikely given his age and how brilliantly he has been performing. No other player in the squad that they can release who will also give them a good enough budget. If they do go for it, they'll look to play Green as an opener. But in the end its Pooran or Green, and Pooran is winning. (3/10)

Mumbai Indians:

Quite possible. Only "costly" players they might release are Boult (12.5cr) and Chahar (9.25cr). Both are quite similar (PP speacialist, getting older/injury prone) so if one doesn't perform MI might release him to try for Green. Bumrah-Hardik-Green-Boult/Chahar isn't a bad pace attack. Part of the problem would be gathering more money for him. If Rickelton (1cr) becomes their opener they can release Jacks (5.25cr), or release Ghazanfar (4.8cr) if he fails. (8/10)

Punjab Kings:

Green would be a like for like replacement for 34yo(35 in 2026) Marcus Stoinis (11cr). But even with the extra 5cr, 16 Crores might be too low to get Cameron Green and there aren't many more costly players that they can let go of. Releasing players like Priyansh Arya (3.8cr) and other 1-2cr players might be the way to gather enough money for him. With Pointing as the coach, I can see them go for it. (9/10)

Rajasthan Royals:

Weird case. Ever since the introduction of the impact player rules, they've lived by the 7 batsmen-5 bowlers formula. Theekshana and Hasaranga were too cheap, releasing them won't give RR enough budget to buy Cameron Green. Archer is their best pacer by a mile, replacing him with Green means batting till 8 but a pace attack of Green-Deshpande-Sandeep which is very poor. Only leaves out Hetmyer as an option, replacing with Green gives them a 6th bowler but they still have to play Hasaranga at #8. If Nitish Rana or Riyan Parag can become 2-over bowlers for them, they can make Green the 5th bowler and play an 8th batter instead of Deshpande. Very likely they just stick to their 7-5 formula. (4/10)

Royal Challengers Bengaluru:

They will want him back. They currently have 4 starting pacers (Hazlewood, Bhuvi, Rasikh Dar, Yash Dayal). Bhuvi (10.75cr) will be 36 next year, he's already declining alot so I wouldn't be surprised if he gets released or he retires and RCB also release Livingstone (8.75) if he doesn't perform to make space and budget for Cam Green. Cam Green essentially replaces both Bhuvi and Liam in this scenario. (10/10)

Sunrisers Hyderabad:

Just like Lucknow, Hyderabad can not buy Green unless they let Klaasen go. But SRH releasing Klaasen is much likelier than LSG releasing Pooran. In 2023, Klaasen was the only well performing batsman. In 2024, Head, Abhishek and to a lesser extent NKR performed at around the same level. This year Abhishek and NKR have matured into much better batters with time at the National team and Kishan has been also added. The point is that Klaasen now has much lesser batting reliance on him, and with Kishan, even keeping is taken care of. So there will be pressure on him to make sense of his 23cr contract with lesser oppurtunities to prove his worth. The owners will have one eye on Cam Green who solves a lot of other problems for them. (6/10)
