New player needing some advice on extensions

So, backstory: I’m brand new to golf, never picked up a club before a month ago. Bought a bag of older Tommy armors off of a coworker and have played 2 rounds with them and a couple trips to the range. I consistently hit the ball thin, and other golfers who know a lot more than I do say the clubs look short.

Measured my 5 iron last night and it’s 35.5” in length. The GolfWorks chart shows that as 2.5” under standard.

I’m 6’3, with a barefoot Wrist-to-Floor of 36”. All the charts I’ve seen put me at around .5” over standard length (I’m hoping that .5” of shoe sole won’t affect this too much).

Can I get away with adding 3” of extensions to my irons and wedges without being in too bad of a spot? Given that I’m just getting into the sport I’m not necessarily looking to spend another $100-$200 on a set of irons.

I’m really enjoying things so far and just want to be in a good spot to get started and get consistent before buying some newer, nicer clubs. Thanks for any help in advance!
