Best ereader to handle ao3 metadata?

My birthday is coming up soon so I'm looking to get an ereader to read my downloaded fics. I currently have a kindle paperwhite from my mom (she's a big kindle fan) but i only use it offline and to read ao3 fics. (I'm not interested in browsing ao3 btw, all the fics are already downloaded).

I've been using Calibre for a few years now so I've built up quite a library that i upload to my kindle every now and then, but due to how kindle works, finding the fics i want to find is very tedious (i used to make collections by fandom or ship but that got tiring real fast).

Id love an ereader that can actually use the metadata to make basic searches or collections or something and i wouldn't mind modifying the metadata in Calibre to do so. I don't want to search for a super specific tag or anything complicated like that, but for example, if i write the fandom name then all fics from that fandom pop up (or anything similar that can be used as basic filtering).

After scrolling through this sub it seems that Kobo is the best option? I tried looking for online reviews but they all talk about the available library, the color and the pen, which are all features i do not need nor want.

Something i would also like is to be able to hold it in one hand and that it has a small size (the kindle i have is way too big and way too heavy, my wrist gets tired real fast), and ideally to be as cheap as possible lol. Considering i dont want any fancy features like the color thing or the pen thing I'm hoping to get a simple one for a reasonable price.

If something like this is possible i would love to know. Even if it's not and someone has any recommendations i would also love to hear them. Thank you in advance!!
