Ectopic at 5 weeks

I found out on the 22nd of Dec I was pregnant after a missed period. I’ve had two pregnancy before and really didn’t feel pregnant. On the 27th of Dec I started having a stabbing ache in my left side and back mid level which radiated down by my c section scar. Ended up in a and e had a scan didn’t really show much just a little bit of fluid no sac. Pain subsided then came back the next day just as bad and this time my stomach was super tender to touch. Back to the hospital for a scan which showed a 8cm mass outside of the left ovary. The doctor thinks my body is dealing with the lost pregnancy and my hCG levels halved within 48hours. I’m in less pain and the doctors are letting me go home to come back and repeat bloods tomorrow.

Does the above mean I should avoid surgery or the injection if my hCG level continue to drop? My stomach feels less tender- the tenderness was caused by blood irritation from where my body expelled the pregnancy into my abdomen.
