Is Hellboy really all that?
Recently I read the first volume of the Hellboy omnibus - Seeds of Destruction, which I had quite a bit of difficulty finding even a used copy.....and honestly, I didn't find the plot that great to the point of really holding my attention from start to finish. It is kind of confusing, and by the end, it doesn't really go anywhere (although I know there are subsequent volumes).....but honestly, I had very high hopes for the content, especially because everyone speaks so highly of Hellboy, but as I said, I didn't feel (reading this first volume) that it is something that will really please me (although I like mythology/witchcraft themes and so on, and of course, I liked the character Hellboy himself, but I found the story kind of mehhhhhh).....now I'm in doubt because another omnibus of Conan (dark horse) costs the same as Volume 2 of Hellboy, and it's content that I've also been eyeing for a while since I don't know the Conan universe at all......from what I could research, things start to get better from this Volume 2 "Strange Places," which is actually written by Mike Mignola himself.
So, what's your opinion about the first omnibus of the big red guy? Is it worth investing in hellboy volume 2 or investing in other content?
