New gear advice for family of 4

Wife and I have camped before but ultimately got rid of our tent. Now after many years have two daughters both under 5. Wondering if y'all have advice on best gear to buy. Tent brand, sleeps 4 or 6? Sleeping bags? Hoping to use this year as a family. We are mostly heading to upstate NY.
