A few days ago someone asked why Bunnings is viewed better than places like Kmart. I have an answer!

I spent twenty minutes or so trying to find someone on the floor on Kmart to pay for an item which had lost its tag.

There was no one except one young woman who was not supposed to still be on and struggled to log on and find the item. She looked abandoned. The only other person I could see was the woman at the exit to stop shop llifting.

I just stopped at Bunnings. It was closing time and half the staff were heading out. But there were still people. It was easy. Staff to point me to the right isle. Quick in and out.

So the difference?

One store is staffed. It was functional. People are there and are helpful.

Enormous contrast for me as a customer

Edit; In case it matters, this was st Port Stephens. And to be clear, the woman serving at Kmart did a good job despite being stuck on her own in an all-but-abandoned store. The problem was very much not with her
