Ideas to upgrade the side passage of my house.

I'm looking for some advice on how to improve the side passage of my house. Currently, it has a pebble-covered path, which I'm finding a bit impractical (and not exactly aesthetically pleasing either). I'm open to any suggestions, whether it’s a full makeover or a more budget-friendly upgrade.

I'm particularly interested in ideas that enhance practicality, aesthetics, and possibly low-maintenance options. For context, this side passage does get some foot traffic, so I need it to be functional.
