My watch has ended.
20 years. 29 days.
Man have I watched the Army grow and change in so many ways. More good than bad.
I was able to see things I’d never have seen from a small Texas town.
I got to take part in quite a few historical events.
I met people who opened my eyes to everything that is different than I was, and they changed me for the better.
BDU/DCU, greens. Blues. ACU, OCP, ASU, 2 pt uniforms. Black boots you polish. Black boots you can’t polish. Tan boots. Brown boots. White socks. Black socks. (SMA is the champ for that one).
It sucked sometimes. It was hard sometimes. But goddamn I wouldn’t go back and change things.
Yall be safe, take care of each other. The Army gives you a home and a family if you let it. And that family lasts past that ETS date.
I’ll take a black coffee and that’ll be it. Gotta watch my weight.
