Sustained weightloss is possible with this medication

I am a 60 year old female who has gained and lost so much weight over the years. I have NEVER been able to sustain weight loss.  I have always told my doctor that I feel like an alcoholic!  When I am ‘sober’ and working the program I am good, but there is a craving deep down in my soul that even with therapy I am unable to  ignore.

I believe this drug is a medical breakthrough and ADDRESSES MY CHEMICAL ADDICTION and has freed me from the very unhealthy addiction to food!  Oh how sad the bad press it gets and that the insurance companies label it as cosmetic and unnecessary.  MY HEALTH (blood pressure and cholesterol) says otherwise!

I have been on Wegovy for the past two years.   I lost 80lbs and have remained relatively stable in weight for over a year.  I am angry to say that my VERY GOOD insurance has stopped covering this medication as of January 1st. (Side note: Insurance Companies VS Drug Companies=Patient Hostages/Casualties)

I consulted my doctor when my insurance company contacted me in September.  I decided that I was going to try and wean myself off the drug to see if I could sustain the weight loss.  By December I was down to the 1.0 shot and struggling with cravings and weight gain.

Now, I am back up to the 1.7 shot and with some effort am sustaining my weight loss. My very progressive doctor is helping me to get a compounded GLP 1 starting next month when I will be out of my Wegovy shots.

In time I will try going back down to the 1.0 shot, but for now it is EVIDENT that I need this medication to sustain weight loss. The compounded GLP 1 is not cheap, but I am going to work hard to make it fit into my budget.

Good luck to all in this medical journey. I can say from experience it has been worth it to me!
