Duck hunting is hard

I'm doing the mission where you have to hunt 3 ducks, but I've managed to shot them in the air and can see the puff of feathers and some body falling but after that I can't find the fallen duck in the floor. I just got one because it literally fell at my side but I haven't had any luck apart from that.

Any tip on tracking fallen ducks? We need a dog DLC soon as in COTW
