Nuanced opinions only, as bad as Charlotte is, Tiffany isn't ready either.
To be clear, I am no Charlotte fan, all the hate for 'parachuting in' the Royal rumble top spot is justified, and I don't even think Charlotte should win, tiffy should. But during all this Charlotte bashing, some glaring holes in Tiffany's game are being ignored. For sure her athletic ability is top notch. But that's not the same as pro-wrestling ability. Imo pro wrestling needs much more- 1. Character work: for real what is tiffiny's character? Other than a capable athlete who's snotty and arrogant-bubbly, like the Bellas or something? What is any other trait of hers. Before cashing in MITB, she was cowering to Nia Jax, the next week ahe said she's pissed off with Nia Jax, the next week she was cowering again. These are all the bookings problems, but for her part, Tiffany was not communicating anything well through her expressions and body language. I think it's though for even the creative people in the back to make a person act on camera if that ability itself is missing.
- Mic work/ promos: don't remember a single promo she cut that was memorable. Also it's not just material given to her, but her ability to use different tone to communicate different moods. Unfortunately her baby face promos, heel promos, angry promos, arrogant promos, scared promos all sound alike. I tried to follow where her story is going. But it's impossible to follow because the fundamental verbal & non verbal communication skills isn't there.
Just for comparison sake take any segment of semi zayn or CM Punk. From the tone itself we know what they're trying to communicate. Punk's promo with cody at last years Royal Rumble (I'm your friend but I'll eliminate you, cody) was way different in tone than it was this year (I'm your friends but watch out, you're getting to a point of exhaustion).
Not to say a newcomer like Tiffany should be as good as decade old veteran like CM Punk. But this push is a little early. I'm happy that she got it, but at this level her weaknesses are getting exposed big time.
Say she wins at WrestleMania against Charlotte, what if WWE faces the same hurdles with her again for any new rivalries- shoddy story line work/ character work/ promo work, and they quickly reverse her push, thinking she was peaked too soon?
A much better position would have been like Lyra Valkyrie's. she's being given a title but because the title is not under any focus, she has so much more room to grow and improve, and no one will resent her for being overpushed- something I see coming for Tiffany after Wrestlemania.
