Brf is increasing our avgift by 110%
Hi,
I have a question regarding a recent notification we received from our Brf. They have already increased our avgift by 10% two times, and now they notified us that they will increase it 3 more times, by 20% each time. This will result in a total increase of about 110% in one year. In addition they now charge extra for electricity, while in the agreement, when we “bought” the apartment, electricity was included in the avgift. When we bought the apartment we knew that the avgift would increase, but only by 10% in the span of the entire year. We are very concerned what this will do to the value of our apartment, since that building was valued more than the average of the area, due to the fact of the low avgift. Is there any way I can appeal or act? Are there any laws that protect us from actions that the brf might take that will impact apartment value?

Update: I ended up becoming the Chairman of the board in my BRF. Once in the board we checked the financials in more detail, and it was even worse than we thought. We can bellerely pay the interest on our loans (we have a free amortaization period of one year, until we get our shit together). We might have to increase the avgift even more, after the latest incearese from the central bank, in addition to other increases such us garage.
The one good thing, my Swedish is getting better :D
