Why Did My Testosterone Jump So Much Without TRT? (Lab Results Inside, Need Input)
I wanted to share my recent testosterone lab results because I’m honestly confused and looking for some insight. I haven't started TRT, yet my Total T jumped significantly between tests, and my Free T barely moved.
I also started Adderall & Zoloft since my last test and was diagnosed with sleep apnea (still working on CPAP compliance). Not sure if these factors played a role, so I’d love to hear if anyone else has experienced this and what might explain the increase!
Key Observations
- Total Testosterone jumped from 749 → 1018 ng/dL (without TRT?!)
- Free Testosterone barely moved (14.0 → 14.7 pg/mL)
- Estradiol is now normal (24.5 pg/mL), but my previous test used the standard E2 assay, not the sensitive one.
- SHBG was 44.4 nmol/L (mid-high), possibly limiting Free T.
What Changed Since My Last Lab Test?
Here are a few things that could have contributed:
- Started Adderall & Zoloft
- I wasn’t on these before. Could stimulants (Adderall) or SSRIs (Zoloft) impact testosterone?
- Diagnosed with Sleep Apnea & Started CPAP (But Not Fully Compliant Yet)
- Only had 1 full night of use could it even impact my testosterone?
- Estradiol Testing Was Different
- My previous E2 (51.5 pg/mL) was from a standard test, NOT the Sensitive E2 assay, so it may have been artificially high.
- My new E2 (24.5 pg/mL) is from a Sensitive test, so it’s probably more accurate.

- Also, if you’ve used CPAP, Adderall, or Zoloft, did you notice any impact on your hormones?
