Sell me on the one finger clutch
I just need convincing this is what I need and I'm worrying for no reason.
So most of my riding is road / gravel roads but I am starting to go exploring down unformed legal roads/ paper roads/ green lanes in my area and I need a bit more clutch control whilst Standing to compensate for my skill level everywhere else.
The current problem, when sitting no clutch issues. When standing, my clutch control is not fantastic due to the below; I'm a rock climber, my strong finger is my middle finger, it also turns out to be the main finger I use to hang onto the bars, but also the finger I use for most of my lever work, on both sides ( cause it's longer than my index too so it does most of the "work"). I have been making a concerted effort to use only my index for riding standing up, which is fine enough on the brake side. But the main problem on the clutch side, is now my middle finger is in the way of the lever and I can only just get the level through the friction zone to disengage the clutch before it bottoms out on my finger holding onto the bar. So will the one finger clutch make this worse? Ie will it need more lever travel? I'm hoping to have the friction zone start earlier rather than end later if that makes sense.
Also how does that effect spirited road riding / shifting?
Please provide me with your insight and experience before I spend lots of money shipping a camel one finger across the planet :)
