The end of S2 doesn’t make any sense

I do wonder how they’re going to resolve this in s3. So Brad believes (probably correctly) that Zack manipulated Jo into doing insider trading because the news of an MQ employee doing this (and going to gaol for it) will tank the stock price, and that will help Zack with his hostile takeover plan. Brad deciding to take the fall for Jo makes no sense, even if one believes his whole excuse about it boosting his “business bad boy” reputation. “Breaking Brad” showed us that Brad really does care about MQ even if he pretends not to, and he doesn’t want his brother to touch it with a 10-foot pole. Wouldn’t such news tank the stock price even more if it concerned a corporate higher-up like Brad than if it centred around a random assistant like Jo? Furthermore, the show’s set us up to believe that Brad’s going to gaol for up to 8 months, but given that there’s no evidence apart from his confession, and it’s in Montréal’s best interest to provide him with good legal representation, that seems unlikely. The discovery process would also probably uncover evidence that implicates Jo (and maybe also Zack). Even if he were convicted, there’s no way of knowing what his sentence would actually be, given that you can get up to 20 years for insider trading in the state of California.
