My Theory Based On The Current Timeline
I'd love if anyone can poke holes and challenge me on this! I've been trying to wrap my mind around the strange series of events that happened that night -
Alex texts both Paul and Maggie to come to Moselle.
6:44 - 6:46 pm - Paul arrives at Moselle.
Paul and Alex are driving around the property in the pickup truck Paul was borrowing (going to call this Paul's truck for short, but it is his uncles truck) while looking at the trees they had planted and such. (In Alex's interview he said they'd been in a pickup - to my knowledge the only running pickup on the property was the one paul had.) At 7:38 pm, Paul creates a snapchat with his dad, Alex, while laughing at crooked trees. They arrive back at the main house sometime around 8pm.
Maggie arrives shortly thereafter and - if they ate dinner - this would likely be the time. Alex leaves his phone at the main house (thinking he needed his phones GPS to be located at the house) and the three of them took Paul's truck to the kennels by 8:22 pm - 3 apps on Paul's phone place him at the kennels at this time. (In Alex's interview i think he actually slipped up in telling them they'd taken his truck to the kennels) Paul got out of the truck and started tending to the dogs while texting his friends. Maggie and Alex hung back at the truck until 8:30 pm possibly having a discussion...or an argument? Had he noticed she wasn't wearing her wedding ring? (Maggie's Steps don't start again til 8:30)
Paul makes a snapchat (or cell phone video?) with Cash at 8:44 pm and lasts for about a minute with everyone's voice being heard. During this time, Alex puts on a blue raincoat to protect his clothes while spraying out the kennels when all of a sudden Maggie notices the dog with a chicken. After the commotion with the chicken, Alex starts walking to the truck while telling Paul to do something in the feed room. Paul puts his phone away to do do this task where he normally keeps it, in his back pocket.
There were 2 guns in the bed (or back seat) of the truck from the trip around the property an hour or so earlier. Alex grabs the shotgun and slings the Blackout over his shoulder. He walks over to the feed room, keeping the shotgun low by his side. He walks into the feed room and while keeping the weapon low to his side, shoots Paul in the chest. Paul stumbles forward holding his wound, forcing Alex out of the room. He trips backwards on the threshold and from a sitting/fallen or kneeling position, takes a second shot hitting him in the head * note at bottom . Maggie, in shock and confused, trys to figure out what just happened and freezes for a moment. This gives Alex time to drop the shotgun and ready the blackout. It was at this point that Maggie starts running. She is shot and killed.
(8:51 - 8:53 pm) Alex hurries over to the kennels where there is a still-running hose to quickly rinse his coat. (There was quick mention of possible blood in the water puddle next to Paul that presumably didn't appear to originate from Paul.) By 8:54 pm, Alex was walking quickly away from Maggie with her phone. Accidentally he looks at the screen activating the camera (8:55) He stops at Paul and is searching for his keys for the truck. He finds them, but not without leaving a blood stain inside Paul's back pocket and displacing his phone. He quickly takes off the raincoat, puts the guns inside it, and stashes it for later. (No idea where.) Maggie's phone is put and left somewhere inside Paul's truck. By 8:57- 8:58 pm, Alex has driven to the main house.
He spends 6 minutes inside the house, but has picked his phone up by 9:02 pm while he is frantically moving around (283 steps in this short time),haphazardly changing clothes and quickly rinsing off in the shower. At 9:03 pm, he opens his own car door, but hesitated. Possibly forgot something? Minutes later he gets in his car having retrieved Maggie's phone from Paul's truck. With Maggie's phone in one hand and his in the other, he calls Maggie. He turns the key to his car and then fires off another text to his wife's phone at 9:06.
He leaves Moselle by 9:06 - 9:07 pm. At some time to or from his mother's, Alex dumps Maggie's phone on the side of the road. Once there, 16 minutes later, Alex uses his phone and lays with his unconscious mother. He stays for 20 minutes but tells his mother's aid to say he was there for 30-40 minutes (in the following days, not that night) - which would have made it impossible for him to have commit these crimes.
Alex leaves his mother's at 9:44 pm and texts Maggie again 3 minutes later. It takes him 16 minutes to get home at exactly 10 pm. Alex parks directly at the kennels, taking a few tries to get the car where he wants it to be found. He waits in his car for a few minutes, possibly getting himself worked up enough for a convincing 911 call at 10:07 pm. At 10:13 pm, he realizes he needs an alibi for any gun residue that may not have gotten washed off when he washed his hands, and informs 911 that he's getting his shotgun (lines up with the time his car goes out of park again).
At 10:26 authorities arrive.
This is all assuming nobody did a search of the truck Paul was using, but the lack of evidence could be that they were simply looking in the wrong place for weeks.
NOTES
■ *The details of Paul's murder come from recreations of the event and ballistic forensics that show what angles the gun had to be held at when fired, coupled with the fact that shotgun shells and blood drops were found inside the feed room. 1st shot inside, 2nd shot from outside.
■ I hear all of you about the raincoat, but I'm sticking with it - especially after Blanca testimony (Friday) saying she found (and washed) the clothes and they didn't appear to have any blood on them.
■ More of a question. This timeline is TIGHT. Meaning there would have been absolutely no time after Paul's video to catch Bubba and get the bird based on the testimony given on Friday saying that it was rather tough to catch him. The Very Good Boy Bubba likes playing keep away with chickens, it seems. So when did the bird get taken away and Bubba back in his kennel? Who except Alex would've put him back? Surely not the "vigilantes". I would love your theories as to when that happened.
(Allegedly 😉)
