Oak Ridge/Knoxville Review

Hey All!
My husband and I are considering the Oak Ridge/Knoxville area. We're from Georgia but are currently in New York. We're looking for a family friendly town that has a focus on the outdoors, family activities, and good schools. We're hikers and campers, we love being outdoors, and we want to be close to those activities. We like good food from local spots and 'quaint' walkable downtown areas. We've driven through the Knoxville area before but haven't stopped so we are unfamiliar with the area. Does this sound like Oak Ridge or any surrounding towns at all, or should we keep looking for our 'dream' town? Thanks everyone!
