Scam attempt

Got a voicemail yesterday from a “No Caller ID” call stating they were a “Lt. Tate from the Knoxville County Sheriffs Office” and he had some very important legal documents that I may or may not be aware of and was wondering why I was not in courtroom A at 9AM that morning. He also provided phone number (615)576-6064 to call him back on

I’ve never been summonsed as I’ve only lived here for 2 years but we did recently buy a house so he probably got my info from home buying records or something.

Well I knew it was odd so I called KCSO directly and asked to speak with Lt. Tate and they informed me of what I already knew that there was no one by that name and that they didn’t call people about missing court. I also checked all the court dockets for yesterday and I wasn’t on them lol

So I called the number back just to see where it went. Apparently someone woman in a domestic dispute had her kid taken away and named me and 3 others as potential fathers and I was subpoenaed to take a court ordered mouth swab. When I told him I was never subpoenaed he mentioned that what “likely” happened is someone signed my name so I also needed to do a handwriting analysis because the signer was left handed.

Obviously I knew it was all bullshit so I let him know I had already checked with KCSO and no one knew him or his phone number and before I could finish he hung up.
