Why is Zionist an insult?

Hello,

First of all, I am very new to the conflict. I am not as educated as I should be and that is because I am having a hard time finding accounts that aren’t riddled with bias. I am researching every day, but a question that boggles me is why Twitter / TikTok uses Zionist as an insult.

If the dictionary is correct, then Zionist is defined as: “A Zionist is someone who supports Zionism, a nationalist and political movement that advocates for the establishment and support of a Jewish homeland in the territory defined as the historic Land of Israel. Zionists believe in the right of the Jewish people to self-determination and to have their own nation-state.”

So, can anyone explain to me why… thinking the Jewish people should have a home in Israel… is somehow an insult?

EDIT: thank you all for your comments. I wanted to clarify that when I mean Zionist being used as an insult, it’s on twitter. i.e “zionists do not follow, they’re a Zionist do not support them,” etc.
