Still new to the game. Question about visitors

I've just set up my first cabin now for Dear Daniel and that made me curious about all visitors and their respective cabins.

Are there enough cabins in the game to hold all visitors or are we forced to only select certain ones? Do the visitor cabins upgrade to more rooms or just the main player's?

I know they can become permanent residents and I want all the cute friends 😭
