Yerson Mosquera -1 days (14) until our first match!
First, I am sorry. Picking Bret Halsey over our son, Yerson, for day 15 was bad. In my defense whatever resource I used for rosters had Mosquera at 14. Anyways…
In 2023 we added Yerson Mosquera to our squad - a promising young center back that we grabbed on loan from Wolverhampton. He was supposed to be here to grab some playing time as he worked his way back from a 2021 injury. That one year loan gave us, arguably, one of the most elite players we’ve had on our team. He is certainly a top 3 Albright acquisition.
Yerson had incredible recovery speed that allowed him to snuff out counter-attacks and cover defensive mistakes. He was tall and athletic which helped him control the box. Miazga may have been the leader of that defense, but Ourson was the engine.
He was a large part of the success that brought us the Shield and even scored a stoppage-time goal against Philly to send us to the Eastern Conference finals.
Mosquera’s time at FCC concluded and he spent half a season on another loan with Villarreal in LaLiga. At the start of 2024 EPL season Yerson had earned his way to a starting centerback role for the Wolves. Unfortunately, in September he tore his ACL and MCL and is out for the rest of the EPL season.
Mosquera is a player that I’ll continue to follow and one of my favorite FCC players to watch. I hope he heals up and makes it back to the Wolverhampton squad next season.
