See ya guys...
I don't make this post as a look at me Louie or for fake internet posts. I make this in the hopes that the show genuinely succeeds and thrives and hoping for better.
Last week was the first week in 10 years I didn't listen at all (outside of the ESPN days when they had random hosts fill in during vacations). I've grown a sort of parasocial relationship with the show and the people on the show in those 10 years as many other fans have as well.
Like many others on this sub I've also seen the "decline" in the show over the past few years. Building a business is hard. Building a media business is hard. Building a media business during a pandemic is hard. I get it all. Doing all that while your leader and family member is going through such difficult personal struggles is nothing short of impossible. But what made me love the show is very nearly gone.
Gone are the days that the bucket of death mattered. Gone are the days of totally random interesting guests like Carrot Top, Kenny G, the guy that "swam" across the ocean. Gone are the days of running bits like Demon of Debate, angel of nuance, sports whisperer, etc. Hell, even the thing the show did best, March Sadness, seemed to be an after thought this year and was disappointing.
I don't know if it's trying to keep up listening to as much as they put out which is remarkable how they do it. I don't know if it's listening to the same ad read 8 times a day for 4 straight weeks. I don't know if it just seems to be going through the motions.
I've grown frustrated listening over the last few months and honestly listening felt like a chore I needed to do keep up, so I took last week off for no reason and felt sad that I didn't miss it.
I genuinely like additions to the show. Lucy, Jess, Amin, Charlotte, Jeremy, So, unfortunately, I'm bowing out as a daily listener. I look forward to seeing clips and following along from a distance and catching an hour or two here and there.
