(CA) Issues with change of address

I got my drivers license at 16 and I am now 20 with an expired license and not currently residing in California at the moment. I mailed in a change of address form reflecting my out of state address and it was delivered May 7 yet I have not received any updates and the online address is still showing my old one. Is it just taking time to process or is there something wrong. I tried to reach out via the chat bot but no agents were available. What do I do? You may ask why don't I change it to my current state, and it's simply because I don't want to deal with the expired license route at the dmv.
