Visa confusion

Hi I'm curious if there's anyone who knows how the visa application works for smaller countries. It doesn't help that the embassy people's English isn't too good. I'm from Sweden and want to travel to ~8 cities in China in June/July but am wondering if we really need to write each hotell booking in our visa application. Here's the mail and the response from the embassy:
I have a question regarding the Visa application form: Section 6 Travel Information. On question 6.1 D you ask for destinations for my planned visit, do I need to add all my planned destinations (cities I intend to stay in)? We plan to visit multiple cities, do we need to book all itinerary in advance (hotels) so we're able to fill in the address you require. Or is it only necessary to have the first destination for our visit? Thanks you!

Embassy response : Hello Thank you for your email. You do not need fill in all of the cities you will to visit, that is enough the first 5 cities. Hotel booking need to provide the whole itinerary. Regards Chinese Visa Application Service Center (Stockholm)
