How do I make my cat happier & affectionate?

I've got a kitten, she's around 7-8 months, Ive had her around 7-8 weeks.

She loves to play and follows me around the house although never wants me too close to her. Its rare she purrs aside from 2 minutes after I get home from work or when she wakes me up.in the morning.

She huffs at me all the time.. I do tease her a little and maybe want affection on my terms more than she would like.

Her tail language is usually sort of droopy unless I've just got back, not the happy upright it should be.

I want her to be happy and feel safe around me, but I still get slow blinks, she always follows me around and she's constantly wanting to play with me. I feel like I can't quite work her out.

Please help.
