Planning to move to NYC from London, what should I expect?

Hi everyone, hope this the right sub. I (31M) frequently travel to New York for work and love spending time in the city.

I was recently approached by work to potentially relocate permanently from London in the next year, pending visa of course.

Whilst I weigh up whether it’s the right move I wanted to understand the rental market, the cost of living and generally what it’s like to live there! Especially places to live, things to do.

Some info to help: - I’m in a managerial position in events/media. I’d be negotiating a salary increase that matches the rise in cost of living - I’m into sports, gigs, travel and socialising (pubs/clubs/bars). - I’d likely want to live with a few people to get myself a social circle.

My main concern is the steep rise in cost of living, I want to have a figure in mind for rent especially. Right now I pay $1,500 for a decent sized en-suite bedroom in a 2 bed apartment near central London. If I were to live in manhattan or Brooklyn what sort of rents would I expect to see? (Appreciate that’s a hard number to pin down).

Anyway, thanks - hope you all have a great Sunday!
